  • Who should attend/participate?
People who have had Bariatric Surgery or who are interested in having surgery. This is a time for Patients to come together and support one another. Supportive family members and friends are also encouraged to attend.
  •  Why should people attend these meetings?
Support sessions, such as these, have been shown to directly increase the chances of short and long-term patient success following bariatric surgery. Regardless of where a person is in relation to the bariatric surgery process, just considering it or at any point prior to or after the weight loss procedure, he or she is welcome to attend the sessions. Significant others are encouraged to attend.
  • Why is SVMC sponsoring these meetings?
We want every patient whether they had surgery here or somewhere else to discover the benefits of pursuing a healthy diet and lifestyle giving  yourself the best chance for long-term weight loss success!
  • What topics will be covered in the support meetings?
A typical support session would include a presentation and discussion on the support group and nutrition topic. Topics include nutrition, psychology, exercise, plastic surgery & more! There's always time for social interaction & questions.
